Sometimes people forget about Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig). How dare they! He always shows up when he's needed most. But according to some Vampire Diaries spoilers from Zap2it, the quarterback is about to have a crisis of the existential variety.
“We are going to let ourselves really enjoy Matt in the last couple episodes," says executive producer Julie Plec. "He looks around at all the people in his life that are about to graduate, maybe move on to college, or go off and live some supernatural destiny elsewhere, and then here he is figuring out his next step. He's thinking, 'Do I have any options? What are they? And what do I want to do now that I'm free to get away from all of this if I want to?'"
This worries us a bit. If Elena (Nina Dobrev), Caroline (Candice Accola), and the gang go off to school, will Matty be left behind, still working at the Grill? It’s not like his mom has a secret college fund somewhere, right? He would probably already know if he got a football scholarship somewhere, yes?
Personally, we’re still hoping that Matt will get a job in the sheriff’s department with Caroline’s mom. Someone has to hold down the fort in Mystic Falls.
Of course, something could happen that interrupts everyone’s post-graduation plans...
