Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev Tweet About Finishing Season 4 Filming

Damon and Elena’s First Dance

It’s that time of year: The Vampire Diaries is almost done filming Season 4.

On Friday, Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) tweeted that the cast and crew were getting ready to wrap things up. “Final Friday of Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries...How has it been four full years?Thank you all for this-all of it,” he wrote.

When you remember that the cast returned to Atlanta in early July to begin shooting the show, you realize just how much work the actors, writers, and crew put into the show. That’s probably why they unwind with a wrap party. Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) tweeted that this year’s theme is prom, and many of the crew members campaigned for the king and queen titles.

Earlier in the week, Nina also sent out a behind-the-scenes photo of where she was filming. Season 4, Episode 23 marks the Mystic Falls gang’s graduation, and the pic showed the stage decked out for the ceremony and several students in caps and gowns.

From that photo, it sounds like Elena makes it to graduation, but Julie Plec teases that many others may be too busy with a serious supernatural event to attend.

We can’t wait to see the episode — even if it means TVD is done for the whole summer. Sigh.
