The Vampire Diaries Originals Pilot Promo: Klaus Wants to Be King

The Originals
Whoa. To stay we were blown away by The Originals promo video on The Vampire Diaries Facebook page would be an understatement.

It starts with one of the doppelgangers — Katherine (Nina Dobrev), we’re guessing — cheersing Klaus’s (Joseph Morgan) departure with the Salvatore brothers. Then we get a shot of New Orleans, “Where the living are easily lost and the dead stick around to play” says a voice-over. We know another town like that...

With Fall Out Boy’s “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” as background, Klaus returns to his old home and greets his old friend Marcel. “My mentor, my savior, my sire,” the younger vampire says embracing the hybrid.
But it’s not much of a reunion. “Marcel has got everything I ever wanted,” says the Original. “Power. Loyalty. Family. I want what he has.”

There are a lot of quick shots of characters we’ll meet in the pilot, such as human Camille (Leah Pipes), who clearly has Marcel’s eye. Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is also in town, though she may have fallen in with the wrong crowd.

Later, Klaus says, “I want to be king.” We’re guessing the city isn’t big enough for two rulers, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top.

Check out the video here. The Originals airs on The CW April 25 at 8 pm.
