The Vampire Diaries’ Executive Producer, Julie Plec hints at finale details
Julie Plec has been one busy lady lately, giving interviews left and right hinting at what all of our favorite Mystic Falls crew will be facing when the season 4 finale finally hits.
With The Vampire Diaries finale being only a short 5 episodes away, its hard for fans not to get too antsy about what this could mean for all of our favorite characters, especially since we know the Originals are taking off on their own adventures for a bit and Jeremy may possibly be returning (as a ghost or supernatural or human, we do not know).
Well, everyone’s favorite Executive Producer, Julie Plec, has been dishing tidbits of info about what the future may have in store.
Matt
Zap2it.com has learned that Matt’s uniquely human perspective of high school graduation will not be overlooked by all the supernatural drama going on. “We are going to let ourselves really enjoy Matt in the last couple episodes. He looks around at all the people in his life that are about to graduate, maybe move on to college, or go off and live some supernatural destiny elsewhere, and then here he is figuring out his next step.” She goes on to say that Matt will be entertaining many different ideas about where his future may take him, and even considering a break from the supernatural craziness. Plec dishes, ”He’s thinking, ‘Do I have any options? What are they? And what do I want to do now that I’m free to get away from all of this if I want to?’”
Elena
Now that Elena’s entire family is gone, how will graduation affect her? Tvguide.com has the scoop from Julie Plec: “Elena is sans family. There is a line in the [penultimate] episode when Elena is filling out graduation announcements and she says, ‘Who am I supposed to send mine to?”
Poor Elena. That line alone makes us really feel badly for her. Graduation is sure to be a different affair on The Vampire Diaries than on other teen shows, as our main character has no family to speak of and the majority of our characters are either immortal or a witch.
Graduation
Plec also dished about the other graduating seniors in that same interview, and hinted that not all may make it to the stage to get their diplomas. “Definitely not all of our wayward, delinquent students will be present when it comes time to collect their diplomas. I’m not saying they won’t be alive — they just won’t be able to extricate themselves, as graduation falls right in the middle of a crucial supernatural time.”
That definitely sounds ominous, but would it really be The Vampire Diaries if everyone was on time and ready to go for an event as big as graduation? Four seasons of disastrous decade dances has taught us better…
The Cure
Everyone has been racing around trying to find the cure, and now that we know where it is, it’s time to start thinking about who is actually going to take the vampire wonder drug. According to Plec (via tvguide.com) the cure will “be ingested by a vampire,” confirms Plec. “This will be one of the finale’s final moments.”
We can hardly wait to see who will be taking the cure, and whether it will be their hearts desire, or taken out of necessity for one reason or another.
The Script is Set
Amidst the crazy number of interviews she has been giving lately, Plec has also managed to finish the finale script, and it seems that she has been receiving a number of Tweets from fans trying to plead with her to keep their favorite characters.
The season finale is written and locked. There’s not a tweet on this earth that can change it. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
