Vampire Diaries season 6: CW show renewed plot, cast and storyline updates

The Vampire Diaries has been renewed for a season 6 and some information has come out recently regarding what to expect, although a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.

The CW show is nearing the end of season 5, with the season finale set for May 15.

Let’s check out some of the latest updates:

-Matty Blue Eyes will find love in the new season.

We’re going to try something in Season 6 that we’ve been percolating on that I think will really help Matt’s storyline,” executive producer Caroline Dries told Zap2It.

“It’s hard to give him these overarching love storylines because we’re just like, what’s the genre? Genre, genre, genre. It’s hard because we have like 40 hundred thousand characters on the show, you know? To give them all very interesting, dynamic story lines is hard but we have something planned for him.”

-Caroline is also working on a new crush.

“Caroline’s got a little crush/feeling for someone that’s going to creep up to the surface and cause a potential rift between her and one of her friends. So she’s like, ‘I’m going to push that down,’” Dries told TVLine.

But moving into Season 6, Dries sayd, “We’re going to see [Caroline] set her sights on [said crush] and try to make a move.”

-There’s going to be some lost cast members, who will be replaced

Executive producer Julie Plec said that there’s going to be “a lot of goodbyes” in the season 5 finale.

“The Other Side is disintegrating and not everybody is going to survive that,” Plec said. ”We’re going to have to say goodbye to some characters that we’ve grown to love over the years.”

-Work has started on season 6

“We’re breaking season 6 right now in the writer’s room, and [the season] will kind of just start with everyone in a different orbit in a way,” Dries told E! News.

“Season 6 will be a lot of us bringing people back together and picking up the pieces.”
