The Vampire Diaries season 6 : why Caroline and Enzo would be perfect together

Have you heard the news? Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will be back full time in Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, and we couldn’t be happier! Of course, with TVD series regular status comes many perks — often including a romance of your very own. Given the mad chemistry Enzo shares with our favorite vampire Barbie Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), we can’t say we’re not intrigued to possibly see this relationship play out. Here is why Caroline and Enzo might just make the perfect pair.
Their banter. One of the highlights of Season 5 was Enzo’s addition to the cast. One of the highlights of Enzo’s Season 5 storyline was his banter with Caroline. Whether they were roadtripping it to Atlanta or trying to avoid an awkward Delena reunion, these two sizzle when they’re on screen together, and there’s no such thing as too much sizzle, especially on TVD.
They’re both grieving. Caroline just lost her bestie Bonnie (and possibly, her mother). Enzo is presumably still struggling to deal with the knowledge that the love of his life died in the 1960s. Misery loves company, especially when there’s a finite few who can understand that your best friend died in the collapse of a supernatural purgatory or that your girlfriend died when JFK was (almost) in office.
Caroline totally has a thing for British bad boys. There’s no chemistry like Klaroline chemistry and, in the absence of a certain British bad boy from Caroline’s life, we’re wondering if Caroline might fall for the charms of another (at least temporarily)? This might be particularly possible in the light of our previous point. There’s nothing like grief to make a winsome smile and accent seem like a good idea.
It could keep Steroline platonic. Though we’re curious to see the much-hinted-at romantic turn in the Steroline relationship, we’re also nervous to see the pairing leave Platonic Land. These two are such a great example of a male/female best friendship, something seriously lacking on TV drama, and we’d hate to lose that. If Caroline and Enzo became a thing, that might be a reason to keep Steroline strictly in the friend zone.
He sees her lightness. Enzo may not be the most empathetic of characters, but he seems to understand and maybe even respect Caroline’s morality. When the two ventured to Atlanta together to kill Stefan’s doppelganger, Enzo was pretty positive Caroline wouldn’t kill Tom. And she didn’t. This not only demonstrated Enzo’s insight into Caroline as a person, but perhaps even represented some well-hidden respect from Enzo, who genuinely seems to like Care despite her strict no-killing policy. (Or, you know, no-killing-until-the-season-finale policy.)
She sees the best in people. Morality is seriously skewed on this show, but even by TVD’s standards, Enzo did some pretty heinous stuff in Season 5. Lucky for him, Caroline has a habit of seeing the best in people, even when they don’t deserve it. Will she be able to see the humanity in Enzo, the kindness we as an audience saw when we first met Enzo in flashbacks to the 1950s? This storyline development could be pretty riveting.
They’re both uber honest. Jumping off of our previous point, one of the best things about Caroline is that she doesn’t just write people off. If she thinks you’re being a immoral creep, she’ll tell you so, and we think Enzo could seriously use some of that tough love. Conversely, Enzo is also super open about his thoughts, feelings, etc. On a show where honesty is often an endangered species, these two might be perfect for one another.
