In The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 21, “Pictures of You,” Elena (Nina Dobrev) was tortured by Stefan (Paul Wesley), Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and — to add insult to injury — her own doppelganger, Katherine. So how many people tuned in to watch the gang burn her with sunlight in an effort to make the baby vamp flip her humanity switch?
According to The Futon Critic, The Vampire Diaries ratings held steady compared to Season 4, Episode 19, “Pictures of You”: It had 2.13 million viewers last night, though the numbers may be adjusted later and that’s without DVR tallies included.
Those numbers are actually down slightly from The Originals backdoor pilot, which aired last week and had 2.2 million viewers. Regardless, The CW has faith in both shows and picked them both up for the fall season.
Next week’s episode, Season 4, Episode 22, “The Walking Dead” is sure to draw a lot of viewers. Some ghosts come back to haunt Mystic Falls — and some of them aren’t happy they’re dead in the first place.
