SPOILER! The Vampire Diaries Season 6 — A Guide to the New Characters

The Vampire Diaries team has been casting up a storm for the sixth season of the supernatural drama -- and we’re pretty excited about all of the fresh faces. Here is a guide to the new characters hanging out in and around Mystic Falls this season.
Tripp. We’re beyond excited to see Eureka alum Colin Ferguson as the villainous Tripp. According to TV Guide, Tripp is “a strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town.” He will first appear in the Season 6 premiere, and will be causing Sheriff Forbes particular trouble. With an actor this charismatic, who knows which side of this show’s often morally relative battle of good guys vs. bad guys we’ll fall.
Liam. Hottie alert! TVD has cast another absurdly attractive young actor, Marco James (The Client List) in the role of Liam, an upperclassman at Whitmore whom The Wrap describes Liam as “cocky yet good-natured” and “a med student who comes from a family of doctors.” Liam will first appear in the Season 6 premiere. Any guesses which character(s) he might be hanging with?
Ivy. Emily C. Chang has been cast as Ivy. The Hollywood Reporter describes this new character as “sweet and sincere … the quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side." Color us intrigued. New characters on TVD are rarely what they initially seem, and we’ll be interested to see what secrets Ivy may be hiding. Ivy will first appear in the Season 6 premiere.
Jo. Another season of TVD, another potentially diabolical doctor. This year’s medical professional is Jo, played by Jodi Lyn O’Keefe (Hit the Floor). Entertainment Weekly describes Jo as “a tough and accomplished doctor at the university hospital. She demands excellence from her students and has learned the hard way that there’s no room for error in her profession.” Sounds like she might be hanging with the aforementioned Liam. With all these medical-types around, we have a feeling one of the TVD gang might be pursuing a career in medicine.
High-End Hot Rod Shop Owner. What does a hot rod shop have to do with TVD? We’re not sure, but at least one character will be spending some time at a high-end hot rod shop in Season 6 given this casting announcement. The Wrap reports that Jayson Warner Smith (Rectify) will appear in at least two episodes as a guy who runs a high-end hot rod shop. Any guesses who he might be interacting with?
