Nina Dobrev Has Some Advice For Elena: Get the "F***" Out of That Town

With The Vampire Diaries on hiatus, star Nina Dobrev has plenty of time to think about what she wants for on-screen counterpart Elena Gilbert. The actress spoke to Buzzfeed about what advice she would give Elena, if she could. What did Nina say?
If Nina could give Elena any advice, she would tell the teenaged vampire: “Run. Like the wind. Get the f--k out of that town.” Not bad advice, though it wouldn’t make for a very good TV show if our central protagonist made a break for it. It’s also somewhat ironic given that, in Season 6, Elena will literally not be able to return to Mystic Falls without dying. The spell the Travelers cast at the end of Season 5 is still in effect. The spell drained all of the magic from the Virginian village and ensures that any supernatural creature to cross the town boundary will die a swift and painful death. Bummer.
Executive producer Caroline Dries told Alloy Entertainment: “The anti-magic boundary will continue to play a role moving forward as we begin to explore this notion of what it means to go home again. As the story unfolds we’ll see the effects exile has had on everyone and see that everyone is handling it (and the loss of their loved ones) differently and personal journeys will form. Some will be fighting for a way to save their home, others have given up or moved on or found peace with it… We wanted the fallout to be personal for everyone.”
