Nina Dobrev Scores a 2014 Young Hollywood Awards Nomination!

It’s summertime, so of course we’re going through Vampire Diaries withdrawals and watching Nina Dobrev spend her hiatus by prancing around the world. But there’s one more thing that summer means: lots of nominations! Most recently, Nina snagged a 2014 Young Hollywood Awards nom for Fan Favorite Actor — Female. Can’t say we’re surprised!
Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco, New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel, The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, Carrie’s Chloe Grace Moretz, American Horror Story’s Emma Roberts, Shameless star Emmy Rossum, Orange Is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling, The Amazing Spider-Man’s Emma Stone, Girls star Allison Williams, and Divergent’s Shailene Woodley in the same category. That being said, we think Nina has a strong chance.
During Season 5 of TVD, Nina really put her acting chops to the test, playing Elena Gilbert, Katherine Pierce, Katherine-as-Elena, and the new doppelgänger, Amara. In fact, there was even one scene in which Nina played all three of her doppelgängers. We know it must have taken quite a while to get that scene filmed, but it totally paid off!
Not only did she make waves playing her doppelgängers, but just playing Elena was a challenge this season — ignoring the whole (amazing) arc where Katherine was pretending to be Elena. We are, of course, talking about Elena’s emotional farewell to boyfriend Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) in the Season 5 finale. Damon was trapped on the Other Side just before it collapsed and got one last chance to spill his heart to Elena — and it melted our hearts.
Clearly this was Nina’s year.
