UPDATE

Will Klaus's siblings join him in the spin-off? UPDATE
We spent most of the weekend jumping up and down over the news of Vampire Diaries new spin-off. CW’s president Mark Pedowitz gave a few more details about the show, which will star Joseph Morgan (Klaus) and Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley), at the 2013 TCA Winter Press Tour over the weekend.

First, the show will be sent in contemporary New Orleans. “Hopefully some of his siblings will come along,” said Pedowitz.

Well, yes. Without Rebekah (Claire Holt), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), or Elijah (Daniel Gillies), it wouldn’t really be an Originals spin-off so much as a certain hybrid’s spin-off.

But we have hope. Pedowitz said, “Klaus is just a great character and the Original family has such great dysfunctional family dynamics, we felt that was a great way to take the show."

We’re very excited — we just hope Caroline (Candice Accola) applied to Tulane University...

Update: Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly the ball is entirely in Daniel's and Claire's court: "It’s only a matter of whether in Daniel Gillies's world there is an interest in having a job with Julie Plec ..." and "it really all comes down to Rebekah’s future, and Claire’s future with Rebekah, and all that stuff that remains undetermined," she said.
