There have been a few moments on The Vampire Diaries when it seemed like Damon Salvatore longed to be human again. So would he ever take the cure? Ian Somerhalder explains to Zap2It:
“The last f***ing thing that Damon wants to do is take this cure. There is no point. Why would anybody want that?” asks the actor.
Well, that’s pretty definitive. But what if Elena (Nina Dobrev) took it? “Living only for Elena's well-being, security, happiness, and all of that stuff, is starting to become very difficult and dangerous for Damon,” Ian admits. “He's starting to see that it's really not a good thing for her to take the cure.” But, Ian acknowledges, “She wants it.”
He’d prefer the two of them live out the rest of eternity traveling and having “a pretty badass life,” but if Elena became human again, Stefan (Paul Wesley) would be the one living happily ever after with her, Ian predicts.
In some upcoming episode photos, Ian looks pretty bruised and bloody. The actor says it’s not what he expected from the job. “I realized that it's five days a week of getting my ass kicked left and right! But, I'm surrounded with great people, and every once in a while I get to make out with Nina Dobrev on screen, and it could be worse,” says Ian.
Speaking of bruised and bloody, will we see Damon finally getting some revenge on Professor Shane (David Alpay)? The two have been verbally sparring all season. “This guy intrigues Damon. He makes Damon sick, I want to just rip his head off, but there's just too many things preventing him from doing that,” Ian points out.
It almost reminds us of Damon’s relationship with Alaric (Matt Davis) — if the hunter had been cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs right from the start.
