Takes the Cure, What Happens to the Bloodline?
There are a lot of questions surrounding the cure that The Vampire Diaries gang is currently hunting for, including who will take it and will it somehow end the world?
But one big theory on Twitter is that if an Original becomes human, so will the rest of his or her bloodline.
As proven by Finn’s death — and Sage’s and Troy’s — if an OV dies, every vamp sired by the Original and his or her followers will bite the dust, too. It’s not clear if that rule applies when a vampire becomes human.
Rebekah (Claire Holt) desperately wants the cure, both for herself and to make her brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan) more vulnerable. “If Klaus takes the cure he will simply be a werewolf, doesn't matter what it means for his hybrids because.. well.. you know ;)” Joseph Morgan explained to a Twitter follower.
But if Bex and the rest do manage to get Klaus to choke down the cure, it could affect Stefan (Paul Wesley), Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Caroline (Candice Accola), and Tyler (Michael Trevino), who are all in his sire line. If Klaus losing his vampirism triggers a similar reaction in all of them — well, there wouldn’t be too many bloodsuckers left on the show, would there? Not to mention the Originals spin-off that's in the works.
Of course Elijah (Daniel Gillies) could always offer his blood to turn a few of them back into immortals — unless the cure is permanent. Frankly, we’re interested to see what happens in Season 4, Episode 14, “Down the Rabbit Hole.” Some new information about the cure “changes the stakes for everyone.” Hopefully that intel will shed some light on the cure’s lasting effects.
The show already did away with the diaries for several seasons. Would they really do the same with the vampires?
