Paul Wesley may have settled into his hipster, beanie-wearing persona now, but the Vampire Diaries star hasn’t always been so sure of his look. In fact, he experimented with hip-hop fashion as a budding teenager. Listen to Paul tell the hilarious story of his too-large pants...
It all started with Entertainment Weekly asking Paul what his go-to karaoke song is as part of their Pop Culture Personality Test. After first stating that he has never done karaoke, Paul recanted, saying: “You know what? I’ve done karaoke. The one and only time I did it, at a bar mitzvah. Vanilla Ice, ‘Ice Ice Baby,’” he recalls. Ah, yes. A classic! “Yeah, I was like 13. Isn’t that when bar mitzvahs happen?”
Apparently, Paul’s preference for hip hop didn’t stop at his one-and-only karaoke performance. It extended to his fashion choices: “I thought I was like a hip-hop artist, apparently, when I was 13 years old, so I’d wear these pants that were so massive,” Paul admits. “I used to go visit my relatives in Europe, or Poland, and they literally wouldn’t bring me out in public.” Um, that may be our favorite story ever. And can we please see Stefan Salvatore go through a similar phase in the form of a TVD flashback? After 170 years in existence, you know there have been some unfortunate Salvatore fashion choices that this show is not showing us.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Burning Question: Will Tyler Activate His Werewolf Gene?
Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) has a second lease on human life. Because of the way he died in The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale — stepping foot inside of a magic-less Mystic Falls and seeing his vampirism and werewolfism reversed — he came back from the Other Side completely human. But just because his werewolf hasn’t yet been activated, doesn’t mean it won’t, especially with all of the “hostility and rage and aggression that,” according to executive producer Julie Plec, “gets bottled up in you when you have a latent werewolf gene.” Will Tyler activate his werewolf gene in Season 6? We speculate below!
Yes, it’s only a matter of time. When you introduce a potential plot development like this, it feels like a matter of if, not when it will be realized. If TVD chose not to activate Tyler’s werewolf gene, it would be like Star Wars introducing the Death Star, and never letting it destroy a planet (R.I.P. Alderaan). Not to mention: when has any character on this show ever been able to avoid killing? These kids murder more guest stars than Joffrey Baratheon in his heyday, and that’s saying something. Not to mention that, with the ever-present threats the Mystic Falls crew faces, there’s always the opportunity to end up in a kill-or-be-killed scenario. We give Tyler-as-human tell mid-season. Sorry, dude.
No, seeing him fight it is the more interesting story. On the other hand, we have seen Tyler turn vamp before, which may negate our Death Star Logic. Perhaps, the more interesting story is in seeing Tyler successfully resist triggering the gene. Julie told The Hollywood Reporter: “Now that [Tyler] knows what he knows and just how wrong it can go, he's going to work really hard to keep himself walking a straight line and to keep his temper in check and to be a good guy in spite of all that anger and ugliness that simmers inside him. It's going to be a struggle, but it's going to be a good struggle.”
There’s also the added incentive that, if Tyler turns werewolf, he will no longer be able to live in Mystic Falls as it is currently a magic-free zone due to the Travelers’ spell. It would be a total bummer if Tyler had to move out of town, given that his family mansion is pretty sweet. Stay strong, buddy. If not for the life of your potential murder victim, then for the hot tub that has to exist somewhere on the Lockwood Manor estate.

The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Finale Scores Fan-Voted Awards
The Vampire Diaries came away with five accolades from Entertainment Weekly’s fifth annual Season Finale Awards. Which TVD moments did the fans vote for? Read on to find out!
TVD knows how to pull off a finale. Season 5’s season-ender was no exception — and the fans agree! Here are the five awards TVD snagged for Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”):
Best (Presumed) Death or Exit: Damon dies to save Stefan, finds peace saying goodbye to Elena, then meets his mystery fate with Bonnie.
Most Unforgettable Line: “The fact that I get to die knowing that I was loved, not just by anyone, by you, Elena Gilbert, that's the epitome of a fulfilled life.... It was never gonna get any better than this. I peaked.''
Best Use of Music: Damon's long goodbye to Lucy Rose's ''Be Alright'' and Birdy's ''Wings.''
Best Final Shot: The fade to white as Damon and Bonnie hold hands and meet their fate.
Most Rewound Moment: Damon saying goodbye to Elena.
Director Chris Grismer dished on that heartbreaking farewell scene between Damon and Elena, specifically how difficult it was to film Elena’s side as she was supposed to be unable to see Damon. Apparently, Nina spent a lot of time acting without Ian in the frame: “To have her hair move [as though Damon was touching it], I had to have a green rod come in in the middle of the scene and move her hair, and she had to just keep in the moment, even though we were throwing all these curveballs at her,” Chris revealed, taking the romance out of it a bit. “She did a great job.” When does Nina ever not?

Michael Trevino and Jenna Ushkowitz Break Up — Glee Actress Confirms Split
It’s officially heartbreak season in Hollywood, and it looks like the latest couple to fall from grace is Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang). The pair has been dating since 2011 and regularly makes us swoon with their Instagram pics, so this split is a tough one for fans of both The Vampire Diaries and Glee — and, you know, anyone who believes in true love.
While at the premiere of Ryan Murphy’s HBO film The Normal Heart on May 19, Jenna was bombarded with a question about whether or not she and her studly lover were still together or not. “No, we’re not together anymore,” Jenna tells the curious dude with a smile. Clearly Jenna is holding up OK, though we know it must be a hard for her to talk about the split.
Just this Memorial Day weekend Michael was grilling and hanging out with an adorable pitbull. Clearly his way of coping with the split is super manly. We’re sure he’s leaning on his bros to get him through this, and he’s got plenty of time to have some alone time now that The Vampire Diaries is on summer hiatus.
Throughout the years these two were together, Jenna brought a Mystic Falls hoodie to the Glee set, they celebrated birthdays together, made out in Tyler Shield videos, and attended star-studded red carpet events as a couple. Basically, they were our favorite pairing of celebs who play secondary characters on primetime TV. Say it ain’t so, you guys!

The Vampire Diaries season 6 : why Damon and Bonnie might be gone for good
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) might be gone for good on The Vampire Diaries. That is, if co-stars Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Paul Wesley (Stefan) have anything to say about it. The TVDers took to the red carpet last week for The CW upfronts, and both told Buzzfeed that characters need to start dying for real on the vampire drama (something we tragically agree with). Does this spell bad news for Damon and Bonnie who seemingly died in the Season 5 finale?
“I want them to start killing people,” Paul said. “It kind of drives me insane that they don’t. You can’t keep killing characters and bringing them back while using death as a catalyst for us caring about the episode. Death has to the be ultimate fear on our show, so when Stefan is trying to rescue Elena, we’re genuinely terrified she might die. Otherwise, what’s the point?” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Paul.
Nina expressed a similar opinion: “In the beginning, the shock value of killing Vicki in the first few episodes made us stand out. As soon as you start bringing people back, you kinda lose that. I mean, it’s great for me, personally, because I get to hang out with my friends, but from a story standpoint, now you don’t care or believe when someone dies because you’ve seen how easily they can come back. The witches can always fix it, somehow. It’s been six years, so I think it would be good to go down the list and cross them off.”
Though it’s true that Nina and Paul aren’t making the narrative decisions on TVD, their sentiment is a common one — perhaps even in the writers room? Might this factor into decisions made about Damon and Bonnie in Season 6? Though we know both Kat and Ian are contracted through the sixth season, we don’t know what form their characters and storyline will take. Are they alive? Will they stay alive? Where are they? We can’t imagine TVD killing Damon off especially, but maybe that’s exactly why the drama needs to do it.

Nina Dobrev scores spot on maxim hot 100 - where does she rank?
Fact: Nina Dobrev is a total babe — and we’re not the only ones who think so. The Vampire Diaries star was just named one of Maxim’s Hot 100 for 2014. Where did she rank on the list?
Nina is No. 53! (But she’ll always be No. 1 in our hearts.) Her bio for the magazine informs us: “This gorgeous Canadian actress is most known for her work on the small screen, particularly as a hot high schooler in Degrassi and a vampire-loving teen in The Vampire Diaries. She also starred in the coming-of-age film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”
Maxim named South African Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel as number one, followed by Scarlett Johansson, Katy Perry, Irina Shayk, Jennifer Lawrence, and Zooey Deschanel. A group of classy ladies, if we ever saw one!
Though we agree that Nina is a stunner, it’s her acting talents that have really blown us away over the past few years. Seeing her evolve from a fresh-faced, competent young actress to a woman who can play three doppelgangers in one scene has been a pleasure to watch. Not to mention she may just be the best cryer on TV right now (that farewell scene with Damon in the Season 5 finale?!). She just wrapped filming horror comedy The Final Girls and should be heading back to the TVD set soon, and we’re eager to see both these projects — but we’re Nina fans for the long haul. We can’t wait to see what this hot, talented actress chooses to do with the rest of her career!
Vampire Diaries Spoilers: The Gilbert ring no longer works!!!
With the destruction of the Other Side on The Vampire Diaries comes a whole host of unexpected consequences — including the end of the Gilbert Ring’s power. Uh oh. Someone get Matt Donovan a plastic bubble!
TVD executive producer Caroline Dries talked to Alloy Entertainment about the ripple effects of the Other Side’s destruction, saying: “Without the Other Side, Jeremy can no longer contact ghosts, which is how they know it’s gone-gone. This also means, as you guessed, the Gilbert Ring won’t work.” We suppose that makes sense, given that the Gilbert Ring worked by temporarily storing the wearer’s soul or whatever in the supernatural purgatory. No supernatural purgatory, no place to hang as a temporary dead person. Bummer.
We suppose this is somewhat of a moot point given that, as long as Matt or whoever else might be wearing the ring, stays in Mystic Falls, they’re safe from a supernatural death. The Travelers cast a spell at the end of Season 5 that makes Mystic Falls a magic-free zone and, since the Gilbert Ring only brought people back from death caused by a supernatural element, there’s no need for it within the Virginian township. At least for now.
We have to admit, aside from the obvious downsides that came with the destruction of the Other Side, it’s not such a bad development. They don’t have to worry about former enemies coming back from the dead. Jeremy doesn’t have to deal with ghost-haunting. And we as viewers finally have some stakes again: death means death. We can work with that.
Vampire Diaries season 6 : Caroline isn‘t sure what she's feeling for Stefan
Steroline was teased pretty heavily in the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries. Will a romance between vampire besties Caroline (Candice Accola) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) blossom in Season 6? TVD executive producer Caroline Dries chatted with Alloy Entertainment on the topic of Steroline — specifically Caroline’s feelings for Stefan.
“Stefan is her friend. Elena loved Stefan. Elena’s her best friend. Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she’s pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise,” Caroline said of the Steroline dynamic. “The feelings behind the feelings are something we get to explore in season 6 as we watch how her relationship with Stefan plays out in the wake of the finale...Her feelings for Stefan are (at the conscious level right now) friend feelings. I personally feel like she’s not quite sure what she’s feeling. It’s all types of confusing. Lots of grey area.” Sounds like Caroline’s feelings for Stefan are just as confused as Stefan’s feelings for Caroline seemed to be in the Season 5 finale, when Lexi brought up the possibility of the two dating. But it sounds like the show is open to exploring both sides.
The Season 5 finale saw another big development in Caroline’s narrative when she chose to kill Luke in order to make Liv do the spell that would bring Stefan back. It was kind of brutal — and totally uncharacteristic for the generally moral vampire. Caroline shared some insight: “Caroline, as we know, doesn’t like not being in control of things and with Stefan’s death and Bonnie’s prediction about her own fate, Caroline was feeling helpless and out of control. So that vicious move was pure emotional desperation.” We wonder if there will be any emotionally repercussions for Caroline’s choice? And, if she will continue to follow this path into darkness...
“Any time we turn a character dark it’s fun because it’s a change of pace for the writers, actors and viewers,” Caroline divulged. “It’d be interesting to see a darker Caroline but we would only go down that road if it felt 100% earned.” We don’t think our Care Bear is that broken...yet.

The Vampire Diaries season 6 spoilers : Enzo is a "Loose Cannon"
Though the fang gang may have lost two of their loved ones in The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale, they gained a few back in Alaric (Matt Davis) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). OK, so maybe Enzo doesn’t really qualify as their “loved one,” but he’s ours, so we’re counting him. What will the two be up to in Season 6? Well, half of them will be a “loose cannon.” We’ll let you guess which one...
“We are very excited about Alaric’s return and plan to incorporate him in Elena’s life hoping to give a type of parental touchstone to her (something she lost when she lost him),” TVD executive producer Caroline Dries told Alloy Entertainment. “Enzo, as we left him, is still a bit of a loose cannon wild thing and I can’t wait until the two butt heads– and I’m sure they will. Let’s see, wish list — feels like there could be a bar brawl in their future. Or maybe they’ll just karaoke compete against each other.”
Um, go with the karaoke. Definitely the karaoke. And not just because we’ve heard Michael Malarkey sing. This show has pulled off karaoke as a plot point before: Caroline singing “Eternal Flame” to Matt, circa Season 2. OK, that was more all-out rocking out, complete with backup band, but it was one of our favorite moments of Season 2 regardless of what Plot Device Box you put it into. On second thought: could we just have an entire musical episode? Thanks.

The Vampire Diaries season 6 : why Caroline and Enzo would be perfect together
Have you heard the news? Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will be back full time in Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, and we couldn’t be happier! Of course, with TVD series regular status comes many perks — often including a romance of your very own. Given the mad chemistry Enzo shares with our favorite vampire Barbie Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), we can’t say we’re not intrigued to possibly see this relationship play out. Here is why Caroline and Enzo might just make the perfect pair.
Their banter. One of the highlights of Season 5 was Enzo’s addition to the cast. One of the highlights of Enzo’s Season 5 storyline was his banter with Caroline. Whether they were roadtripping it to Atlanta or trying to avoid an awkward Delena reunion, these two sizzle when they’re on screen together, and there’s no such thing as too much sizzle, especially on TVD.
They’re both grieving. Caroline just lost her bestie Bonnie (and possibly, her mother). Enzo is presumably still struggling to deal with the knowledge that the love of his life died in the 1960s. Misery loves company, especially when there’s a finite few who can understand that your best friend died in the collapse of a supernatural purgatory or that your girlfriend died when JFK was (almost) in office.
Caroline totally has a thing for British bad boys. There’s no chemistry like Klaroline chemistry and, in the absence of a certain British bad boy from Caroline’s life, we’re wondering if Caroline might fall for the charms of another (at least temporarily)? This might be particularly possible in the light of our previous point. There’s nothing like grief to make a winsome smile and accent seem like a good idea.
It could keep Steroline platonic. Though we’re curious to see the much-hinted-at romantic turn in the Steroline relationship, we’re also nervous to see the pairing leave Platonic Land. These two are such a great example of a male/female best friendship, something seriously lacking on TV drama, and we’d hate to lose that. If Caroline and Enzo became a thing, that might be a reason to keep Steroline strictly in the friend zone.
He sees her lightness. Enzo may not be the most empathetic of characters, but he seems to understand and maybe even respect Caroline’s morality. When the two ventured to Atlanta together to kill Stefan’s doppelganger, Enzo was pretty positive Caroline wouldn’t kill Tom. And she didn’t. This not only demonstrated Enzo’s insight into Caroline as a person, but perhaps even represented some well-hidden respect from Enzo, who genuinely seems to like Care despite her strict no-killing policy. (Or, you know, no-killing-until-the-season-finale policy.)
She sees the best in people. Morality is seriously skewed on this show, but even by TVD’s standards, Enzo did some pretty heinous stuff in Season 5. Lucky for him, Caroline has a habit of seeing the best in people, even when they don’t deserve it. Will she be able to see the humanity in Enzo, the kindness we as an audience saw when we first met Enzo in flashbacks to the 1950s? This storyline development could be pretty riveting.
They’re both uber honest. Jumping off of our previous point, one of the best things about Caroline is that she doesn’t just write people off. If she thinks you’re being a immoral creep, she’ll tell you so, and we think Enzo could seriously use some of that tough love. Conversely, Enzo is also super open about his thoughts, feelings, etc. On a show where honesty is often an endangered species, these two might be perfect for one another.

Paul Wesley and Phoebe Tonkin visit Paris with thier co- stars see all the pics
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals may be on hiatus for the summer, but that doesn’t mean the castmates have given up on their duties! Over the weekend, real-life couple Paul Wesley and Phoebe Tonkin took to Europe to partake in the 2nd annual Bite Me I’m Famous fan convention in Paris. The duo were joined by Phoebe’s Originals co-stars Daniel Gillies and Charles Michael Davis, as well former star Claire Holt and her boyfriend Matt Kaplan.
Former TVDers Arielle Kebbel and Nathaniel Buzolic were also on hand for the event, and they made sure to find time to catch up with their friends. The group was photographed sipping drinks at the Chez Nous wine bar and dining on French fare at the Hotel Costes.
It was certainly a romantic getaway for several of the castmates. While Paul and Phoebe kept their love pretty private, Claire had no problem sharing a sweet photo with her man. “Greetings from Paris! ❤️” she captioned a pic of the duo standing on a bridge overlooking the Seine.

Nina Dobrev reveals the beauty trick she uses to "Fool" her dates!
Nina Dobrev has a pretty recognizable mug, but she has one trick up her sleeve that might just work in fooling any future dates: color contacts! The Vampire Diaries actress joked with Bellasugar about how she might utilize the lenses to trick future friends and dates. We love her silliness!
“I can trick people when I go on dates,” Nina told the site, theorizing on possible uses for color contacts. “Maybe I can use it as a way to meet new people and not get recognized.”
We’re not sure if changing eye color would be effective in obscuring Nina’s recognizable face, but given that she’s also gone ombre with her long locks, she might have a chance. In discussing how she’s feeling about the hairstyle switchup, Nina said: “I mean, I wouldn't have done it before. It's a pretty severe, extreme change for me, but I did it for a role in this movie that I'm doing right now [The Final Girls]. But it gave me the opportunity to see it, and now, maybe this is something I would try for longer. I mean, I have to change it back for The Vampire Diaries, but it is kinda fun, light, and fresh.”
We think Nina can totally pull off the look — and we’re eager to see her rocking some color contacts, too. Let’s face it: with a bone structure like that, Nina could pull off any eye/hair color.

Let’s face it: with a bone structure like that, Nina could pull off any eye/hair color.
what is making Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec sad?
Julie Plec regularly makes us TV-sad with the power of her narratives on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, but what makes the executive producer and TV goddess sad in real life? Disclaimer: It will probably make you sad, too.
Julie took to Twitter earlier today to bemoan the fact that some presumably cruel Twitter users have run Originals star Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley Marshall) off of the social media platform: “Did horrible people run @1PhoebeJTonkin off twitter? Not cool, horrible people. Not cool,” Julie tweeted. Then, retweeted someone’s response to the Twitter drama along with her own: “‘Hate sucks but everyone from the cast gets hate its not new so she just needs to chill and be cool.’ This makes me sad. Why is any hate ok?”
Though we’re unsure what it was specifically that made Phoebe want to leave Twitter — we’re guessing it was a pattern of behavior more than one, singular event (which makes us even sadder) — the Aussie actress sent out the tweets: “This new twitter really sucks” and shortly after: “Peace out twitter! I gave you a good shot, its been fun. I'm moving to FB now. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Phoebe-Tonkin/1478482849035182 … be kind to one another! Love ya all.”
Twitter hate isn’t a new phenomenon, but we agree with Julie when she says that it is not something we should accept as normal. It seems counterintuitive that fans of the show would spew hate at the very people who make it possible. Or, if Twitter haters are not fans of the show, that they would spend anytime thinking about this cast and crew, let alone sending hateful tweets in their direction. The first comment in Julie’s response tweet wondering if people ran Phoebe off of Twitter reads: “I'd love for the same to happen to you b—h.” This is deeply unsettling and not OK. We wish all Twitter users could be as classy as Phoebe, who in her potentially final tweet didn’t dwell on the negatives of what instigated the departure, but the positive, asking everyone to “be kind to one another.” In relation to the TV world, Twitter is a cool resource for direct communication with show creators, actors, and other fans. It makes us sad when that community is endangered by hateful messages.

would Nina Dobrev ever chop off her hair? "Never say Never"!
Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is known for her long, brunette locks — but has she ever considered chopping them off? The actress talked to Bella Sugar about the possibility of donning short hair in future!
When asked if she would ever consider going for a lob (aka a long bob), Nina told the website: “No, I'm not allowed to, so maybe once I stop the show, I'll probably chop it off.” Basically, we probably won’t be seeing Nina with short hair until after the end of TVD. Though, might we say: Elena’s grief over the apparent death of Damon might be a good emotional catalyst for switching to a different hairstyle. Or is The CW still afraid to break The Felicity Rule of TV Hair?
Though Nina may not be chopping off her hair anytime soon, she did go ombre this summer during the TVD filming hiatus: “I mean, I wouldn't have done it before,” she said of the new, lighter look. “It's a pretty severe, extreme change for me, but I did it for a role in this movie that I'm doing right now [The Final Girls]. But it gave me the opportunity to see it, and now, maybe this is something I would try for longer. I mean, I have to change it back for The Vampire Diaries, but it is kinda fun, light, and fresh.”
And, as for the future, Nina had this to say about the possibility of a shorter ‘do: “I mean, never say never!”

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Picks Up After a "Substantial Time Jump"
The Vampire Diaries tends to mix it up when it comes to the narrative time jump between seasons. Sometimes, the next season picks up mere minutes or hours following the end of the last season. Other times, as was the case with last season, months have passed. It seems that TVD will be taking the latter option for Season 6. What did executive producer Julie Plec tell TV Guide about the time jump between Season 5 and Season 6?
“There's a substantial time jump which we're excited about,” Julie teased. “It gives us the opportunity to find these people again with enough time having passed that the grief has settled into a reality that is making them either actively move forward with their lives, spiral to a different place or make really bold and rash decisions in how they're going to live their lives without these people in them.”
We’re totally down for this. Time jumps can be a good way to make a new season seem fresh, and this seems particularly important given that TVD is entering its sixth season and certain story cycles have become all-too-familiar. We know so much about these characters. By creating months (if not longer) of off-screen story we haven’t been privy to as viewers, there are new facets to these characters and stories that are unknown to us. Uncertainties that can create dramatic tension for viewers.
As for the adjective “substantial,” we’re intrigued to know what that might mean. We’ve never seen TVD jump more than a few months. Is that what we’re looking at — will a summer have passed, as it did last hiatus — or will it be longer? Will Elena and Caroline be well into their sophomore year of college? We’re intrigued by this possibility…

the Vampire Diaries burning question: Is everyone human now?
In the season finale of The Vampire Diaries, oodles of characters died and crossed over to the Other Side, to be eventually resurrected by Bonnie. (Well, not everyone. R.I.P. Damon?) With all the insanity that went down in those final minutes, it was easy to forget the moment that could have the biggest effect on Season 6: Tyler's realization that he is no longer a hybrid. Does this mean that everyone who came back from the Other Side is now human? We speculate below.
No, Tyler was special because he had a Passenger. Tyler's death and resurrection was a bit different from the other characters who died and came back. Unlike the others, he was first banished from his body by Passenger Julian. Then, Julian was killed, along with Tyler's body. When his body died, Tyler's spirit found its way to the Other Side. Did this distinction — Tyler's body banishment — effect Tyler's return? Also unlike the others, his supernatural body went through the complete reversion when Julian was forced into the magic-less Mystic Falls. We had to watch Tyler's body work backwards through his werewolf turn, death, and vampire transition. Brutal, but also potentially important. Is this why Tyler came back as a human?
Another argument in support of this particular theory is the fact that none of the others seemed to notice a change after their return from supernatural purgatory. We know there was a lot going on, but you'd think one of the others would have made the observation that they were feeling less tangy than usual, no? Perhaps, Tyler is the only one who has reverted to his human — or, at least, werewolf — state?
Yes. they are all human again. On the other hand, this might be a genius re-set for this show that has more-or-less made all of its characters into invincible vampires. If Elena, Stefan, Tyler, and Enzo are all human again, then the show can have them asking some interesting questions about what they want for their futures and how this changes them as characters. Elena, for one, never wanted to turn into a vampire (not to mention it was her transition into vampirism that coincided with her falling in love with Damon).
Let's face it: Stefan has always been a terrible vampire. And Enzo is probably going to be way less murdery as a mere mortal, no? This could also play into the "reclaiming our home" storyline teased on the promo poster for Season 6. As was mused on by Matt in the Season 5 finale, just because the fang gang defeated the Travelers doesn't mean their spell preventing magic in Mystic Falls will end. If this is the case, then TVD is going to need some characters who can actually enter the Mystic Falls town limits. Turning more-or-less half of its cast back into humans could make this potential storyline much easier and more interesting to explore.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers : Caroline and Tyler " have found their back to being friends"
The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale was hinting pretty heavily on the Steroline, but where does that leave Forwood? Will Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) be in a good place come Season 6? Executive producer Julie Plec talked to TVLine on the subject.
“Honestly, we can officially say that Caroline and Tyler have reached a point where they genuinely and legitimately care about each other and have found their way back to being friends, but are no longer a couple,” Julie told the site. “I think Caroline and Tyler’s individual responses to losing Damon and Bonnie will set each of them on a new path in their life. Caroline is holding very strongly onto the idea that ‘We need to stick together in order to find our way back home and be allowed back into our town.’ And Tyler’s thinking, ‘Hey, maybe it’s time for me to go live my life.’ So everyone’s response to the events of the finale will be different and profound.”
We’re really glad to hear all of this. Though a return to the Forwood romance wouldn’t necessarily feel natural after everything these two have been through — Tyler leaving Caroline, then Caroline hooking up with Klaus (respective dealbreakers for these two characters) — neither would ending their friendship altogether. Caroline has never let go of the people she loves easily and, based on Julie’s comments, it doesn’t sound like that particular character trait is going to change anytime soon.
We’re also glad to hear that Tyler is thinking more seriously about what he should do next. His character was pretty confused in Season 5 — which is actually quite a realistic reaction to post-high school existence — but that confusion seemed to translate into an ineffective utilization of the character. TVD seemed confused about where Tyler was going, too, which is less acceptable. We hope Tyler gets some meatier, more consistent storylines in Season 6.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6: Alaric will help Elena work through her grief
Though The Vampire Diaries Season 6 will see Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) without Damon (Ian Somerhalder), she does have the miraculous return of Alaric (Matt Davis) to help soften the loss. What will their relationship look like in the upcoming season? Will Elena’s quasi-father figure help her deal with her grief?
Alaric is the best. Everyone knows this. And, it sounds like he will be continuing his awesome history of being there for the Gilbert kids in the wake of the devastation the Season 5 finale wrought. Executive producer Julie Plec had this to say to TV Guide about Alaric’s role in Season 6: “Him [returning] is a really beautiful circle back to that dynamic where he's going to be there for her as a friend and as emotional support. But also now he has to come to terms with what it's like to live life as a secret vampire. So she has something to teach him too. The Elena and Alaric friendship is something we're really looking forward to next year and I'm super excited to have Matt back. He's not only a fan favorite, but a cast favorite.”
Conclusion: Everyone is glad Matt Davis is back as a series regular. His relationship with both Elena and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) has been one of the most surprising and compelling on the show. He started as their teacher, then became a friend through their supernatural crime fighting and when he started dating their legal guardian Aunt Jenna. When Jenna died, he took responsibility of watching over Elena and Jeremy until his death in Season 4. What a mensch!

will Ian Somerhalder return fot the Vampire Diaries season 6?
The season finale of The Vampire Diaries ended with a shocker: the apparent deaths of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) as the Other Side collapsed, taking them with it. Though both deaths were surprising, we were particularly shocked by Damon's, as he is one-third of this show's ever-important love triangle. Will Ian be back for Season 6 of TVD?
Frankly, we can't imagine Ian not returning for Season 6. He is one of the biggest draws to this show — with a massive fan following — and his contract extends through the sixth season. Basically, if he really were killed off, it would be the decision of the show, not Ian. And we really can't imagine the show making that choice. We think Ian will be back for Season 6.
This speculation is seemingly supported by comments Paul Wesley (Stefan) made to TV Guide about the upcoming season: "[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in Season 6. They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place."
To us, this sounds like TVD will be exploring whatever is one the other side of the Other Side, following Damon and Bonnie into whatever adventure that white light signified. We also think that Damon took Elena's heartbreaking "come back to me" very seriously. We wouldn't be surprised if his central struggle in the first act of Season 6 is, in fact, getting back to Elena.
We're less certain about Bonnie's chances. Though we think she may play a part in the beginning of Season 6, we're not sure if she's going to get another chance to evade death. She may just have met her quota. And, as we've mentioned before, there's only so many times TVD can backtrack on character deaths without losing all sense of stake. We thought they may have reached that limit, but — we have to admit — Damon and Bonnie's deaths were affecting. Even though we doubt both of them will permanently stick.

Kat Graham is in tears after vampire diaries season 5 finale
We're still teary-eyed from Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries. The episode was one emotional punch to the gut after another, ending with the biggest one of all: Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) grasping hands and getting sucked into oblivion. What was Kat's reaction to watching the heartbreaking episode?
"Watched the finale. In tears. So proud of my beautiful cast members work, our dedicated crew and the mind and passion of our writers. #TVD," Kat tweeted shortly after the episode had aired — and we couldn't agree with the sentiment more. The entire TVD cast and crew brought their A game last night. The acting. The cinematography. The writing. Everything came together for an effective, beautiful, and brutal ending to what has been an uneven season. We are officially excited to see where TVD takes us in Season 6.
We're especially curious about the path of Bonnie. Though we have serious doubts that Damon will stay dead forever, we are more worried about the former witch. As she told Jeremy in their heartbreaking last phone call, she died the day before she graduated from high school. Everything since has been a gift. Arguably, almost every character on this show could take that perspective, but that fact that the writers chose to have Bonnie voice it allowed makes us fear her days are numbered.
But, in the mean time, we're hoping for The Adventures of Damon and Bonnie on the Other Side of the Other Side. Paul Wesley (Stefan) told TV Guide: "[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in Season 6. They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place." Sounds to us like the story of our seeming departed friends might not be over. Bring on Season 6!

The Vampire Diaries ratings rise for season 5 finale
Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries — Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”) delivered the tears, the feels, and, thankfully, the ratings! How many people tuned in to see Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) return to the land of the living and ugly cry as Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) seemingly get sucked into oblivion? Read on to find out!
According to Zap2it, the emotional season-ender garnered a 0.8 in the key 18-49 demo with 1.57 million viewers tuning in to see the Other Side crumble in on itself and the Travelers get bested by the Mystic Falls gang. That’s 14 percent up from last week’s slip in the ratings but down a whopping 27 percent from the Season 4 finale — Season 4, Episode 22 (“Graduation”).
It’s also important to note that the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries was totally demolished in the ratings by the Season 1 finale of The Originals — Season 1, Episode 22 (“From a Cradle to a Grave”). It seems like the hybrid baby drama in New Orleans was more eye-catching than the Other Side drama back in Mystic Falls, in the tune of almost half a million viewers. It seems the spin-off has officially eclipsed its source material.

is Damon really dead on The Vampire Diaries
We thought we were ready to watch the deaths roll in during the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries, but when two characters bit the dust during an emotional final scene, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. When Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) held hands as they were sucked into whatever lies beyond the Other Side, all of the feels started to happen.
Almost every character made their way to the Other Side during Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”) — but a few didn’t make it back. After Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), and Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) made their way back to Mystic Falls, the Wonder Twins stopped their spell closing the portal back, leaving Damon alone.
Using Bonnie as a connection to the Other Side, Elena was able to give one fond farewell to her on-again, off-again flame — and she definitely let out her ugly cry for a few minutes. Then, when Bonnie realized that she had no chance of coming back, she joined Damon on the Other Side and they held hands as they were potentially sucked into oblivion.
The one thing we’re clinging to is the fact that the episode ended mid-sentence, giving us some hope that the Powers That Be are toying around with the idea of concocting an elaborate plan to bring these two back.

the Vampire Diaries season 5 finale shocker : Tyler is human
UPDATE: It looks like Tyler’s life has been spared! The former (???) hybrid made his way back to Mystic Falls from the Other Side through Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) just before the portal closed. When he made it back, however, it was pretty clear that he was different somehow. He took a rock and cut his hand open, but he never began healing. It looks like homeboy isn’t a hybrid anymore — but does it mean he’s human?
Original Story: We knew going into the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries that there would be three permanent deaths — but we weren’t prepared for one to happen within the first 10 minutes! Who was the first character to bite the dust tonight? Read on to find out!
As expected, Tyler (Michael Trevino) was the first person to die in tonight’s climactic conclusion, getting pushed inside the Mystic Falls city lines and having his neck snapped — you know, the way he died way back in the day. No-magic zones suck, don’t they?
Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) is the one to blame for having his lackeys bring Tyler to his doom — and sadly Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) had to watch the terrible turn of events. Now that we’ve seen just how far Markos will go, we’re definitely worried to see how this episode will end up. Just because we thought Tyler would die doesn’t mean it hurts any less.

Paul Wesley to direct a season 6 episode of the Vampire Diaries
If you loved Paul Wesley’s first foray into directing — Season 5, Episode 18 (“Resident Evil”) — you’ll be excited to learn that it won’t be his last! Now that Season 5 is officially behind us and we’re looking ahead to Season 6, and we’re over the moon with the news that Paul will be getting behind the camera once more.
“Paul Wesley tells me he’ll be directing another ep of #TVD next season!” BuzzFeed’s Jarett Wieselman tweeted from yesterday’s CW Upfronts, making all of our dreams come true. Sure, we don’t know which episode he’ll be tackling (it’s a little early for that), it doesn’t make us any less excited.
Not only do fans support Paul being a double threat, but we’re pretty keen on the idea as well. The episode he was in charge of this past season gave us all kinds of nostalgic feelings with the adorable (albeit fake) images of how Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) could have had a perfect life together.
The Vampire Diaries family was also welcoming of Paul stepping behind the camera, with the cast sharing behind-the-scenes photos of Paul goofing off and sitting in his director’s chair. While Paul was “definitely nervous” to direct his first episode of TV, he admitted that the cast was “so supportive.” Adorable, right?

Vampire Diaries season 6 : Ian Somerhalder says drama is inevitable
The real tragedy of Damon Salvatore’s death in season finale of The Vampire Diaries (besides everything) was in the fact that, as Stefan mused, he had just found happiness with Elena. Until the fates stepped in and tore them apart — as it will always be, argues Ian Somerhalder. What did he tell Entertainment Weekly about his hopes for Damon in Season 6 — should he return (wink!) — and inevitability of drama for the Salvatores and Elena?
What does Ian hope his on-screen counterpart be doing come Season 6? Damon Salvatore will be “in the Bahamas, drinking rum,” of course — because “it’s been a tough five years for him.” Something tells us that ain’t gonna happen and, all joking aside, Damon thinks so, too. Besides, what he really wants for Damon, Stefan, and Elena is much more intrinsic that beach-side boozing.
“Damon, Stefan, and Elena, they’re all extraordinarily different people, but hopefully, what happens is that in some crazy, cohesive way, they all get to live their lives in a very harmonious way,” Ian said of his hopes for the characters. “The problem is, it’s Mystic Falls, and harmony does not work within this spectrum, so it’s probably going to be more jagged and somewhat abrasive. There’ll be bits and pieces layered in there that are going to be pretty and soft, but ultimately, if you’re happy in Mystic Falls, there’s no drama, and if there’s no drama, there’s no show.”

Joseph Morgan and Persia White are engaged exclusive
Joseph Morgan is engaged to marry his girlfriend Persia White, Wetpaint can exclusively announce. The exciting news comes on the heels of The Originals’ epic Season 1 finale and just days before the actor’s 33rd birthday. Talk about best week ever!
The happy couple released a joint statement to Wetpaint: “We really appreciate those of you who have supported our wild, creative, passionate and unlikely relationship. We have found a rare and precious thing; true love. We wish you all the same.”
Joseph and Persia, 41, met on the set of the The Vampire Diaries during production of Season 3. Joseph starred as big bad hybrid Klaus Mikaelson, while Persia had a memorable arc as Bonnie Bennett’s mom Abby.
Back in September, Joseph went on HuffPost Live and dished about their relationship. “You know, I’m very happy. It’s great,” he said. “I’m lucky enough [that] she came with me to New York to enjoy a little bit of the city. I get the weekend off so we get to experience a little of that. But that’s all I’m going to put out there — I’m going to keep the rest for myself.”
Well, we’re glad Joseph and Persia shared this happy news with us. Congrats to the happy couple!

Vampire Diaries season 6 : Paul Wesley wants " NO VAMPIRES" going foward
What does Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) want for The Vampire Diaries? No more vampires! Hear what he had to tell Entertainment Weekly about his non-supernatural hopes for Season 6.
“I really think in season 6 they should just take away all the powers on the show — no vampires, no witches — they should all be gone and everyone should go back to being normal, and then we’ll see what happens,” Paul told the news outlet. “I think Stefan would do great, he would do wonderfully, but Damon would be a disaster.” Agreed (on the Stefan vs. Damon as mere mortals thing, at least). And, we actually think this outcome is kind of possible — well, at least partially. With everything that went down in the finale moments of the Season 5 finale, it is easy to forget that Tyler seemed to revert back to his human state after his crossing back from the Other Side. Did this also happen to the other characters who died and were brought back to life through Bonnie? If so, Stefan, Elena, and Enzo will all be pulling a Katherine, too, and going from vampire to good old-fashioned human.
Though much of the success for this possible storyline is tied up in its execution, we think it has a lot of potential. Team Human has been seriously dwindling in the numbers department these last few seasons, making most of the cast more-or-less invincible (especially when coupled with that pesky habit TVD has of bringing characters back from the dead — case in point: that thing that was the Season 5 finale). More human characters raises the stakes (if TVD lets it), while at the same time asking some interesting questions about the nature of immortality, physical vulnerability, and what it means to be human. Basically, the early Season 5 Katherine story arc, which was awesome. The question is: was this awesome because the transition from vampire to human raises compelling questions or was this awesome because Katherine Pierce was involved. Probably both.
What we’re trying to say is: we don’t think Paul’s idea is so crazy in moderation. Though, we’ll have to wait until the promos for Season 6 start dropping to find out if it’s a direction TVD is willing to go.

will season 6 of the vampire diaries be it's last : Julie Plec says....
The Vampire Diaries may have just ended their fifth season with a dramatic cliffhanger less than 24 hours ago, but we’re already thinking ahead to Season 6 — and beyond. Will Season 6 be the show’s last season? When EW.com caught up with TVD mastermind Julie Plec, the EP had a very straightforward answer: “No.”
“It’s not on our radar yet,” she said. “You could ask 10 different people that question and you’d get 10 different answers, in terms of how long the life of the show is. Warner Bros. would say, “17 seasons!” And I think I would say, “Seven!” [Laughs] Presumably we’ll land somewhere closer to my wishes or theirs, depending on the circumstances.”
That’s a relief! Honestly, with so many loose ends to tie up in Mystic Falls, it’s hard to imagine TVD ending with Season 6. Plus, we just got Alaric back — and Enzo bumped to series regular — and we definitely need more than 22 episodes with them on our TV screens. But that’s not to say we want the CW vampire drama to go on for 17 seasons. (Sorry, Warner Bros.) With the ratings on the decline, Season 7 seems like the natural end for TVD. Damon and Elena will have, hopefully, been reunited, and Stefan will have found his happily ever after… with Caroline, perhaps?
One thing is for certain, however: contract negotiations. The cast of TVD is only signed through Season 6, which means that Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder will all have to sign new contracts towards the end of the sixth season — and possibly negotiate new salaries. We’ll have to wait and see how this all pans out, but we don’t see our favorite leaving the show anytime soon.

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 - Michael Malarkry gets promoted to series regular
Re joice, Enzo fans! Michael Malarkey is officially returning to The Vampire Diaries for Season 6. And that’s not all: he’s getting upgraded to series regular! And we couldn’t be happier.
Julie Plec has confirmed the news to EW.com. “We have not seen the last of the delicious Michael Malarkey,” she said. “He’s a wonderful addition to the team, and he will be officially a series regular next year.”
The last we saw of Enzo, the snarky vamp had just been brought back from the Other Side to the land of the living, and he seemed pretty happy to see Caroline (aka “Blondie”). As for where Enzo goes from here, we imagine that he’s going to hang around Mystic Falls for a bit. After all, if there’s a way Damon could be alive, Enzo would probably want to help — even if he says otherwise. Despite Damon’s betrayal, we imagine Enzo still cares about his former best friend.
As for Damon’s other bro, Alaric, who is also returning for Season 6, there’s going to be tension between him and Enzo. “I anticipate them not liking each other very much,” Julie told EW.com. Jealousy, perhaps? Let’s just rename The Vampire Diaries to Everybody Loves Damon.

The Vampire Diaries finale spoiler Damon to die in order to save Stefan and Elena from Markos?
The finale of CW TV's popular vampire drama is just two episodes away and the show creators have already warned fans to brace for some major deaths by the end of season 5 of The vampires Diaries.
The intensity of the series has been mounting with each episode, especially after Markos and the Travellers wreaked havoc on Elena, Stefan and Damon's life along with other vampires. The latest rumour is that Damon will sacrifice his life in order to save the vampires and Mystic Fall.
In episode 20, Markos discovers Elena and Stefan's hideout and uses his magic to paralyse Elena. And the synopsis of Episode 21 'Promised Land' says that Markos kidnaps Elena and Stefan.Fans already know that the Travellers are trying to break the witch's curse by draining Elena and Stefan's blood. The next episode will feature Damon desperately try to save his brother and his 'toxic love.'
Meanwhile, Wetpaint suspects that Damon may sacrifice his life to save those of Stafan and Elena from Marcos and the Travellers.
The official synopsis of the finale reads:
"Damon comes up with a dangerous plan that relies on split-second timing from Jeremy and Matt ... Damon's plan causes a massive explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair."
Fans are familiar with an emotional Damon, who can kill or get killed in order to save his loved one. And when his twin brother and love interest are both in danger, some emotional explosion from him is always expected.
Does this mean this is the end of the Dalena love saga and fans won't be able to see more of the super-hot chemistry between their favourite vampires in the upcoming season?
Celebdirtylaundry earlier reported that Ian Somerhalder is leaving The Vampire Diaries because he can't tolerate awkward romantic encounters involving his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. Meanwhile, Somerhalder's request not to kill Enzo's characters was ignored by the show producer which has irked him.
"He (Enzo) is going to become a ghost villain moving forward. We'll see him all the way through to the finale as the bad guy," executive producer Caroline Dries told the website.

CW's The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale is titled as 'Home' and will air at 8 pm on May 15. The finale episode is written by Caroline Dries & Brian Young and is directed by Chris Grismer.

Shirtless Ian Somerhalder Poses with Lemur on nector island PHOTO
What is Ian Somerhalder doing now that The Vampire Diaries has officially wrapped Season 5? After having his installment of Years of Living Dangerously air on Showtime this past weekend, it looks like this stud has decided to travel to the exotic locale of the Virgin Islands to hang out with Richard Branson and a lemur. Yes, a lemur. (And we’re not talking about Zoboomafoo.)
You might think Ian would be soaking up the sun on his little vacation, but it turns out he’s treating his trip as a platform to give us another lesson about the environment — this time speaking out against deforestation. Luckily Ian’s little friend was around to help give his statistics meaning. Check out what he had to say:
“My last day on Necker Island. Thank you @richardbranson for this amazing experience and your love, commitment and contribution to the world of people, flora and fauna! GO TO: www.conservation.org EVERYONE, please answer this question- WHY DO ONLY 150 LEMURS LIKE THIS EXIST IN THE WILD?! Why? BECAUSE THEIR HABITAT IN MADAGASCAR IS BEING DESTROYED BY DEFORESTATION!!! STOP THIS! Let's stop this TOGETHER!!!!! Conservation INTERNATIONAL aka www.conservation.org has more info on this than you can imagine! Check out the website www.conservation.org I Love this place. Love these people. Love these animals. HATE DEFORESTATION. F--- DEFORESTATION- find solutions please! Help us!!!” Ian captioned the shirtless selfie.
We applaud Ian for bringing this very important topic to the forefront. We want to save all of our little furry friends around the world and destroying their homes is doing the opposite. Need further evidence? Look at what happens when you destroy the Other Side. Yeah, getting pulled into the black abyss doesn’t look too fun, does it?
Stop cutting down trees, y’all!

Ian Somerhalder Begs young people to 'Belt up' with him PHOTO
Ian Somerhalder is one socially-conscious guy. When the Vampire Diaries star isn’t busy trying to save the planet or its animals, he is using it to empower and educate youth. This week, that comes in the form of promoting the Snap2Live belt, a seatbelt-inspired belt that promotes road safety — and looks cool while doing it. Check out Ian sporting one of the signature belts...
“#1 Killer of Youth = Road Crashes, join me and my brother @ernestoarguello and @Snap2Live and belt up with me,” Ian tweeted yesterday, along with a photo of himself next to Snap2Live founder and social entrepreneur Ernesto Arguello. In the photo, the two are hanging together on a boat and Ernesto is pointing at Ian’s hips, which — yes — are donning a purple Snap2Live belt.
Ernesto created the Snap2Live belt as a way to spread awareness of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety upon hearing that road accidents are the leading cause of youth death around the world. Seventy percent of the Snap2Live profits go to the Road Safety Fund, whose mission is: “To invest in the preventative measures that are proven to reduce the risk or severity of road injury. Invest in the people and the skills that can provide sustainable paths to safety.” According to the fund, every six seconds, someone is killed or seriously injured in a road accident. Ninety percent of those casualties happen in developing countries, and many of them are children.
The Snap2Live belt is available in one-size-fits-all in a variety of colors (including Ian’s purple). They cost $30 on the Snap2Live site.
