What is Ian Somerhalder doing now that The Vampire Diaries has officially wrapped Season 5? After having his installment of Years of Living Dangerously air on Showtime this past weekend, it looks like this stud has decided to travel to the exotic locale of the Virgin Islands to hang out with Richard Branson and a lemur. Yes, a lemur. (And we’re not talking about Zoboomafoo.)
You might think Ian would be soaking up the sun on his little vacation, but it turns out he’s treating his trip as a platform to give us another lesson about the environment — this time speaking out against deforestation. Luckily Ian’s little friend was around to help give his statistics meaning. Check out what he had to say:
“My last day on Necker Island. Thank you @richardbranson for this amazing experience and your love, commitment and contribution to the world of people, flora and fauna! GO TO: www.conservation.org EVERYONE, please answer this question- WHY DO ONLY 150 LEMURS LIKE THIS EXIST IN THE WILD?! Why? BECAUSE THEIR HABITAT IN MADAGASCAR IS BEING DESTROYED BY DEFORESTATION!!! STOP THIS! Let's stop this TOGETHER!!!!! Conservation INTERNATIONAL aka www.conservation.org has more info on this than you can imagine! Check out the website www.conservation.org I Love this place. Love these people. Love these animals. HATE DEFORESTATION. F--- DEFORESTATION- find solutions please! Help us!!!” Ian captioned the shirtless selfie.
We applaud Ian for bringing this very important topic to the forefront. We want to save all of our little furry friends around the world and destroying their homes is doing the opposite. Need further evidence? Look at what happens when you destroy the Other Side. Yeah, getting pulled into the black abyss doesn’t look too fun, does it?
Stop cutting down trees, y’all!
