There was sad news for Cult fans today. The CW pulled the show from its schedule. Does the cancellation mean Matt Davis (Alaric Saltzman) could return to The Vampire Diaries? Spoilers from Zap2It suggest it’s already happened, though it’s too soon to start speculating about Season 5.
According to the site, Matt was spotted in Atlanta and “Davis is expected to make another appearance on The Vampire Diaries this season.”
This is just one more piece of evidence that Silas’s plan to break down the barrier between the mortal world and the “Other Side” actually succeeds. If the ancient immortal manages that, all the dead supernaturals will be free to roam about the earth — and possibly seek vengeance on their killers. That could spell bad news for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan). The amount of hybrids they’ve killed is staggering.
Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert) is also coming back before Season 4 ends, and Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) could make an appearance as well.
Whatever happens, whether it’s a ghostly visit from Alaric or an apocalyptic event, we hope it’s the nice version of the history teacher and not his “I want to kill every vampire” side. Although, that could come in handy if the veil is lifted...
