Have you seen Community’s Ken Burns-ian episode about Pillowtown versus Blanketsburg? A similar Civil War-style documentary could be made about The Vampire Diaries‘ warring factions: Team Delena vs. Team Stelena.
But executive producer Julie Plec is calling for a true between those who ‘ship Elena (Nina Dobrev) with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and fans who want to see her with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Why does she want the two groups to cease and desist? It’s for the greater good.
Entertainment Weekly is launching a “tournament to determine the Greatest TV Couple of All Time.” Voters will choose which couples “make it out of a qualifying round to fill the final slots.” Hence the Delena/Stelena dilemma.
Julie Plec knows trouble when she sees it, so she issued a plea on Twitter: “A pitch: no matter who represents TVD when all is said and done, can we all just agree that we should band together to WIN?!!! #winningisfun.”
That’s a good point. So pour your heart out in the first round of voting, then make a pledge to vote for Elena + ?, regardless of which brother makes it to the final spot.
Of course, if Ellijah — it’s really hard to mash together Elena and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) — were in the running, we’d make no promises. And don’t try to tell us they’re not a real couple. Our fanfic says otherwise.
