Sorry Vampire Diaries fans, but it looks like we will have to settle for watching Ian Somerhalder’s sexy blue eyes on the small screen. Us Weekly reports that Ian is officially out of the running for the part of Christian Grey in the upcoming big screen adaptation of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.
Though Ian had been campaigning for the part, telling Ryan Seacrest it would be “a pretty incredibly thing and hopefully that could pan out,” it seems like he may not have been a contender at all. After On the Road actor Garrett Hedlund rejected the lead role, a source told Us that “E.L. James was at a Comic-Con party July 20 telling people the part won't go to Ian.”
When it comes to why, we have no idea. If you ask us, you’re not going to find a better smolder in all of Hollywood.
Oh well, at least we have countless fan-made Fifty Shades trailers to keep us occupied. And once October rolls around, it’s back to a weekly dose of Mr. Somerhalder. That’s good enough for us!
