Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) is such a tease! He has the whole Internet nervous after sharing a photo of Damon’s gravestone earlier this week. What did TVLine have to say about the truth behind Ian’s return — and what it might mean for Damon?
The TVD camp seems to be keeping quiet about where Damon might be come Season 6 — and, if he’ll even be alive. However, TVLine did confirm that Ian will definitely be back. As for the grave pic in question, the TV news site called it Ian “jerking fans’ chains.” What else are you suppose to do on summer hiatus, TV aficionados?
The question is: how much can we trust Ian? He captioned the photo: “Rest in Peace Damon Salvatore. #GameOver.” Does this mean Damon is for-real dead? At this point, we’re not even sure if that’s so unlikely a possibility. Characters have survived as show regulars past on-screen deaths on this show before (for example, Damon’s new white-light companion, Bonnie). We’re not sure what death means on this show anymore or how seriously to take it — even after the collapse of the Other Side.
Wherever Damon may be, and whatever corporeal state he may be in, a gravestone commemorating his life doesn’t seem so crazy. As far as his loved ones know, Damon is gone forever. They should really follow Wetpaint. Then they'd know a reunion is inevitable....
