The Vampire Diaries Speculation: What Does Elena’s New Look Mean?

Does The Vampire Diaries have a new bad girl in town?

Now that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) made Elena (Nina Dobrev) shut off her humanity (and her grief over Jeremy’s death) in Season 4, Episode 15 “Stand By Me,” this baby vamp has gotten a whole new attitude.

Elena will debut her badass new ‘tude in Season 4, Episode 16, “Bring It On,” but apparently shameless nudity and cheerleader binges aren’t enough! Elena no longer feels at home in her goody-goody fashions, and in Season 4, Episode 17, “Because The Night,” she’ll unveil a tough new look to go with her tough new self.

TV Guide has photos of the episode where Elena, on a trip to New York City with Damon, is rocking bodacious, wavy hair streaked with bright red, black boots laced all the way up to the knee, and a wicked smile. According to the synopsis, we’ll visit the Big Apple both in the present day and in a flashback. As you can see from these photos, Damon used to be quite the rocker himself. But Rebekah learns that E is plotting something — and the Original is totally on board. That must mean it’s bad news!

OK, so Elena looks awesome, and we’re all for a little no more Miss Nice Girl — but does anyone else find this a little too-close-to-Katherine-for-comfort? Now that Elena’s humanity is on hold, these two could become doppelgangers inside and out, if she isn’t careful.
