Remember when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) told Elena (Nina Dobrev), “You should have met me in 1864. You would have liked me”? Well, if we had met Stefan (Paul Wesley) back in 1917 when he was massacring villages full of people, we probably wouldn’t have been too fond of the Ripper.
In a sneak peek video for The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 16, “Bring It On,” Stefan tries to prevent his ex from making the same mistakes he did. She’s unemotional and hungry for human blood — right from the vein.
“I was having the time of my life when I was first turned, too,” he tells her. “I didn’t start ripping people’s heads off until 1912. The next thing I know, I was killing entire villages.”
Elena doesn’t think she’s in danger of becoming a Ripper like Stefan, but he certainly seems concerned. This is a very different Elena from the one we usually see. Her compassion and empathy were turned off with the rest of her feelings, and now she’s free to really be a vampire for the first time.
