And here we thought the big story would be Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) and Elijah’s (Daniel Gillies) return, but in the spoiler photos for The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic,” there are bigger, more shirtless fish to fry. Caroline (Candice Accola) isn’t too happy that she gets elected to assist Klaus (Joseph Morgan), but after the OV’s run-in with Silas, boy does he need it. Trust us. There are some very provocative shots in here! Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) head to Pennsylvania, where they meet both Katherine and Elijah. Are those two working together, or is it a coincidence? Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are both worried about Elena, but she doesn’t want her emotions turned back on. Also, Stefan has his own vision for his future, which surprises Damon.

Any Vampire Diaries episode with a Ramones song is OK with us! There was also a stellar performance by Dead Sara, who contributed an exclusive cover of a Patti Smith song, “As the Angels.” The show flashed back to the 1970s, when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) had no emotions and was “borderline evil,” according to Elena (Nina Dobrev).
