In a very special Valentine’s Day episode of The Vampire Diaries, Twilight’s Charlie Bewley makes an appearance. OK, it isn’t really a Valentine’s episode, but it is airing on February 14.
Season 4, Episode 14, “Down the Rabbit Hole” starts on the mysterious island from the previous week. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) meets the Twilight star, who’s actually a member of The Five named Vaughn. Watch out, D. He sounds tough!
Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) have some together time, in which he tells her how he really feels about the cure — and whether he’d take it himself.
Speaking of the cure, something comes to light that makes everyone feel differently about it.
Remember when Bonnie (Kat Graham) helped Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) fight his urge to kill Elena? He’s returning the favor by assisting the witch in separating truth from fiction. Meanwhile, Bonnie’s mentor, Shane (David Alpay), is shown compassion by Caitlin (Camille Guaty), a woman he once knew.
The left behind, Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Caroline (Candice Accola), need Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to puzzle out the Hunter’s Sword. The OV will help, but he has his own motives.
Rebekah (Claire Holt) is somewhere, too, likely sulking over Stefan and Elena.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES — (8:00–9:00 p.m. ET)
“Down the Rabbit Hole” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
CHARLIE BEWLEY FROM “TWILGHT” GUEST STARS AS ONE OF THE FIVE HUNTERS — On the island, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has an ugly run-in with a Hunter named Vaughn (guest star Bewley), and realizes he is one of The Five. Stefan (Paul Wesley) confesses his true feelings about the possibility of becoming human again to Elena (Nina Dobrev). When a stunning new piece of information about the cure is suddenly revealed, it changes the stakes for everyone. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) helps Bonnie (Kat Graham) recognize what is real and what is an illusion, and Shane (guest star David Alpay) is comforted by a woman from his past, Caitlin (guest star Camille Guaty, “Prison Break”). Back in Mystic Falls, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) find that their attempt to translate the code on the Hunter’s Sword is futile without help from Klaus (Joseph Morgan), who has his own reasons for solving the puzzle. Claire Holt also stars. Chris Grismer directed the episode written by Jose Molina (#414).
