SPOILER! What To Expect in The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18: “American Gothic”

Rebekah in Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic”

The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18 extended promo for “American Gothic” is a continuation of the road trip from the previous episode. In fact, we finally catch up with a certain cure thief. We’ll take you through the promo second by second so you can tell which doppelganger is which.

0:01 — Smalltown, USA
Wait, this isn’t Mystic Falls!

0:02 — Defan
Kind of love it when the brothers Salvatore are on the same side.

0:03 – 0:04 — Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) sore.
Someone’s still a bit bitter over the whole neck-snapping thing.

0:05 – 0:06 — OK, more than a bit.
Karma for all the necks he’s snapped? Just sayin’. Now he knows how Alaric (Matt Davis) felt.

0:07 — “The game is on.”
As long as it’s not Monopoly. We don’t have 14 hours, here.

0:09 – 0:10 — “You have no chance of finding the cure.”
Stefan (Paul Wesley) breaks it down for Rebekah (Claire Holt).

0:11 – Shirtless Klaus (Joseph Morgan)
There are no words.

0:12 — Caroline (Candice Accola) promises him misery.
But, Caroline. Shirtless.

0:11 – Shirtless Klaus (Joseph Morgan)
Sorry. Had to rewind.

0:13 — Elena (Nina Dobrev) appears.
Is she talking to herself?

0:14 — Sort of.
She’s actually talking to her doppelganger, Katherine (Nina Dobrev).

0:16 — Elena demands the cure.
This probably won’t go well.

0:17 — Katherine scoffs.
Do you know how much effort she went through to get that thing?

0:18 — Doppelganger y doppelganger
Place your bets! Who do you think will win this fight?

0:20 — Katherine’s KO’d.
Bam! Bitch went down.

0:21 — At least for a second.
You can’t keep Kat down for that long.

0:22 — Elena had some help.
You’d think Rebekah and Katherine would’ve run into each other before now, right?

0:23 — Damon declares a winner.
A Katherine/Elena showdown? We’re the winners.

Vampire Diaries’ Candice Accola on Caroline’s Small-Town Style

Caroline Looks Skeptical in Season 3, Episode 5: “The Reckoning”

Elena (Nina Dobrev) may have a new look on The Vampire Diaries — hello, pink hair and sexy boots — but Caroline (Candice Accola) is keeping her classic style.

Candice Accola recently spoke to the site Who What Wear and dreamed up an outfit for her on-screen alter ego. “Caroline’s style is colorful and flirty,” said Candice. “She is, and will always be, a small town girl, more likely to be scoring a designer deal at T.J.Maxx than sporting the new Chanel.”

Fair enough, though we can see Car being tempted to compel a designer bag from a richy-rich rival in the future!

So how would Candice dress up Vampire Barbie? “I'd love to see her in a clean-cut, modern orange pantsuit with her hair slicked back,” said Candice. Fancy! Now that Caroline is — metaphorically — growing up, maybe it is time for her to ditch a few of her cardigans for something a little more chic. And we’re sure Klaus (Joseph Morgan) wouldn’t mind chipping in for a sleeker wardrobe for Caroline...

But there’s one accessory Candice says is a must-have for Caroline this year: “Graduating from high school and moving on to college, I think Caroline needs a cool new backpack.”

Preferably one with a cooling compartment for a blood bag or two.

SPOILER! The Vampire Diaries: What Would Rebekah Be Like If She Took the Cure?

Rebekah in The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 14: “Down the Rabbit Hole”

It’s not clear whether Damon (Ian Somerhalder) talked Rebekah (Claire Holt) out of wanting the cure in The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 16, “Bring It On,” but Claire Holt told Zap2It that it would be interesting to see a human side of her character.

"This whole hype has been, since we found out there was a cure, Rebekah has been destined to take it,” says Claire. “Who knows, if and when she gets the cure, if that happens, if it comes into her possession, whether she'll really pull the trigger.”

It did seem like Bex took Damon’s words to heart when he told her, “Life sucks when you're ordinary. .. You're a vampire. You take that cure and become human? You're no one, nothing.”

In her Zap2It interview, Claire imagined how different Rebekah would be if she suddenly became human. “If she takes the cure, I guess she’s going to have to [change], because she can’t go around compelling dates and friends,” she points out.

With Bex packing her bags for New Orleans with her brothers for The Originals pilot, it wouldn’t make much sense for her to get the cure. If the Original sister were staying in Mystic Falls, we could see her becoming human and trying to get something going with Matt (Zach Roerig), but considering all the grand adventures the siblings would have if the spin-off gets picked up, we’re guessing something will make her think twice about giving up her fangs.

SPOILER! The Vampire Diaries Synopsis For Season 4, Episode 18: “American Gothic” (UPDATE)

A small town in Pennsylvania? That’s the last place we’d think to look for Katherine (Nina Dobrev), but according to The Vampire Diaries synopsis for Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic,” that just might be where the fanged fatale is hiding out.

The last time we saw Kat, she was absconding with the single dose of the cure. Now Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) are hot on her trail — hence the trip to the Keystone State. Guess who else is a fan of Quakers, chocolate, and liberty? Elijah (Daniel Gillies)!

Now that we’re done doing our happy dance, we’ll tell you that the Original also just so happens to be in Pennsylvania. Intrigue! Maybe he and Katherine are holed up in the same bed and breakfast?

Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are both worried about Elena and her new emotionless state. She’s not exactly rolling out the welcome mat for their assistance, either. Also, Stefan has his own vision for his future, which surprises Damon.

Caroline (Candice Accola) isn’t too jazzed about helping out Klaus (Joseph Morgan) back in Mystic Falls, but she does so anyway. In the meantime, the Original finds out more about what makes Silas so formidable.

SPOILER! The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Damon Calls Elena a What?!

Warning! These The Vampire Diaries spoilers for Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic” aren’t for those with delicate sensibilities.
Goodness gracious and heavens to Betsy! Damon (Ian Somerhalder) certainly has a way with words in a new clip for The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic.”

Somehow, Sheriff Forbes has managed to do some real police work and track down the elder Salvatore’s stolen car. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) ditched the vehicle shortly after liberating it from him. Stefan (Paul Wesley) shows up with enough gas to get them to Willoughby, PA.

That town isn’t on the list of Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) former addresses — though it should be on the list of places to visit for any enthusiasts of puréed starches, as it’s the creamed corn capital of Pennsylvania. But the Sheriff also managed to find the second car Team Elekah stole.

“They’ll be there,” Stefan promises. “Let’s just hope we get to them before they get to the cure.” While Damon briefly fantasizes about killing a mortal Rebekah, he realizes that Elena is the one who really needs it. “Believe me,” he tells his brother. “I learned my lesson. Elena without humanity is a stone-cold bitch.”

Such language! Though she did steal his car and leave him for undead...
