The Vampire Diaries Speculation: Would Stefan Really Leave Elena?

The Salvatores are always vowing to leave Mystic Falls and forget Elena (Nina Dobrev), but it never seems to actually happen. At the end of The Vampire Diaries Season 3, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) made a pact that whichever brother didn’t get the girl would leave town. That was before their mutual girlfriend sprouted fangs, of course.

But Stefan reiterated a desire to leave in Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic.” He told Damon, “we’ve been making the same mistakes for a 150 years. … Nothing ever changes.”

Nothing... except Stefan. Maybe it’s just her emotionlessness, but his feelings for the new vampire seemed quite different. He said, “I can’t keep reliving my life like this. I owe Elena her shot at being normal again. Once we give her the cure, I’m getting her out of my life, and I’m getting a life of my own.” Stefan sounded deadly serious.

In an Entertainment Weekly interview, Paul Wesley said he’d like to see his character on his own. “Stefan is really interesting when he separates from the pack and is exploring his own demons,” said Paul. “I think it’s time for him to go off and then come back later to Mystic Falls and see how that impacts the relationship he has with Elena and Damon.”

Do you buy it? If Elena takes the cure, she’ll be vulnerable again. Stefan’s always wanted to protect her — would he really leave her, just when she needed him the most?

His feelings for Elena notwithstanding, Stefan skipping town would also mean leaving Damon behind. The brothers have been separated for decades before, but now there’s a cure on the table. Perhaps it’s Stefan who somehow ends up taking the single dose. Wouldn’t a newly mortal, former vampire want to spend time with his only (un)living relative?

Regardless of how things shake out — and who ends up with the cure — we’re not sure Stefan will really exit Mystic Falls. Or if he does, his return will likely coincide with the start of Season 5.

The Vampire Diaries’ Originals Spin-Off: Klaus’s New Love Interest?

In The Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) heads for New Orleans, but does that mean he’s leaving his affection for Caroline (Candice Accola) behind, as well?

Not exactly, executive producer Julie Plec tells Entertainment Weekly, but a human may catch his eye. Cami (Leah Pipes) a psychology student, works as a bartender at Rousseau's, New Orleans’s answer to the Mystic Grill.

''She refuses to believe in evil,'' explains Julie. ''She believes that every person has a story, and you just have to dig deep enough to try to get to the bottom of what their story is.”

Klaus and Cami’s interaction is brief, but we all know the way to his heart is through art. The two meet and discuss a painting in Jackson Square, and her analysis gives the hybrid ''a little bit of understanding, like perhaps he could be related to,” says Julie.

Much like with Elena (Nina Dobrev), vampires just can’t stay away from the human. Klaus’s protégé Marcel is drawn to Cami, and that interests Klaus.
Don’t worry, Klaroline fans. Julie promises, ''Klaus is still very attached to Caroline Forbes and the idea of what it could be like if they were ever to be together. It'll be a little bit of time before, if ever, he's able to be distracted from that.”

She Knows caught up with Executive Producer, Julie Plec. She fills us in on the rest of the season, and Elena’s journey. *Spoiler Alert*
DON'T GIVE UP ON ELENA JUST YET
Executive producer Julie Plec lets us in on the rest of the season of The Vampire Diaries, including Elena's emotional roller coaster and the resolution of unfinished relationships.
The Vampire Diaries is on hiatus until April 11, but I think you'll agree it feels like so much longer away. With all of the unanswered questions looming as the finale grows near, we couldn't wait for the show to return. SheKnows sat down with executive producer Julie Plec to get all the juicy details about what you can expect this season and beyond.

Elena will worse before she gets better
SheKnows: A lot of people want Elena (Nina Dobrev) to turn her humanity back on, but what do you think of the new, meaner Elena?

Julie Plec: As a writer and as someone who loves doing new things and finding a fresh voice, we love it. We love mean Elena because it's different. It's a fun sparkle. She's nasty, she's uncompromising and unforgiving, and it gets worse before it gets better for sure. Every time I see a cut of the show I feel it's so new and fresh. Now I also know you run the risk of alienating people who are traditionalists and purists who like their heroine to be clean and pure. It's not something that we would leave her there forever. I think it's all part of the journey. When we decided to turn Elena into a vampire we didn't want it to be easy. We didn't want it to be a cakewalk. We needed her to run the whole roller coaster of emotions and of that experience of stuff so she wouldn't just be, "Oh I'm a vampire, now let's party and I'm happy." We knew we wanted to take her as dark as we could take her so that's where she is now, but we do the roller coaster. We end up down one hill and up another.

SK: It's obvious Elena is going to go down a darker path. What's in store for her?

JP: What's in store for her right now is, honestly, you've got these two boys who more than anything want her fixed. In the next episode they recruit some of her friends, as well over the next couple of episodes, in an attempt to get to her any way they can emotionally, whether it's through nostalgia, memories, through sneaky tricks of confronting her with things she has had feelings for in the past. Really building up to a hardcore intervention where they're just grasping to do anything to break through to her.

SK: So far we've seen vampires, werewolves, hybrids, witches and warlocks. Can we expect to see any other supernatural creatures in the future?

JP: You know, we keep trying to think of those and weirdly enough, we find ourselves stumped more often than not. There's our favorite story of Season 1: we tried to make Matt Donovan's mother a succubus and we shot it and we wrote three scripts about it. When we saw it for the first time we realized this isn't right. This doesn't feel like part of our show. It doesn't feel like we're in the right scientific world. I'm not saying we'll not ever see other creatures, but definitely thus far, we are staying grounded in that one zone.

The dead may return
SK: Are any characters who have previously died going to return to the show in a more supernatural way — specifically Jeremy?

JP: Given that the season is about Silas's desire to break down the vamps of the other side and unleash all the supernatural beings back onto Earth, I think I feel pretty safe in saying his plan will not be completely foiled. With luck, our heroes will be able to triumph and not bring on the supernatural apocalypse. I definitely think we'll see a few familiar faces before the season's out. I think that it's possible, as we try to win Elena's humanity back [by] facing some of her past stuff that represents humanity could be glimpsed again.

The Vampire Diaries 4 Spoilers: Will Someone Take the Cure?

Poor Rebekah (Claire Holt). The cure was in her grasp, she gulped it down, then discovered she’d been foiled by Katherine (Nina Dobrev) with a fake dose. So will anyone get the cure in Season 4?
Yep. TV Guide got some Vampire Diaries spoilers at WonderCon over the weekend, when executive producer Julie Plec spoke on the Fan Favorites Showrunner panel. She told the crowd that someone will definitely take the cure.

Now, who could it be? There are so many contenders. Bex probably wants it more than ever — even though Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tried to kill her immediately after he thought she turned human. But Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) have both started to realize how much of a threat Silas poses. Perhaps they’ll convince Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon to save the cure for the former warlock?

Both brothers are still convinced Elena (Nina Dobrev) needs to lose her new ‘tude and take the cue. However, she’s really not in agreement with her exes. She’s just growing into her fangs, and she’s not ready to lose them. (See Exhibit A: Dead Waitress.)

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev Hold Hands Despite Rumors of a Split

The rumor mill’s been churning as of late that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have called off their relationship after a year and a half of dating. The Vampire Diaries co-stars looked the picture of love while celebrating the 2013 Academy Awards — then suddenly the duo were nowhere to be seen.

In fact, on February 16, Ian tweeted that he was headed off for a meditative retreat in the tropics, and that he’d be going alone. This appeared to kick off a nearly six-week-long hiatus in the duo’s usual adorable tweets, prompting fans to wonder if they’d gone their separate ways.

Thankfully for all you Nian ‘shippers out there, we can confirm that the gorgeous pair are still together and looking just as in love as ever! Over Easter weekend, the couple flew to Toronto to spend time with Nina’s family and friends. Showing no sign of anything but togetherness, the brunette duo got goofy while playing in the snow outside the Dobrev family home.

On Sunday, March 31, Ian and Nina said so long to Canada as they headed back home to LA. The couple exchanged hugs with Nina’s parents at the airport, before strolling hand-in-hand on their way to catch the flight.

If you ask us, it’s time for all these breakup rumors to come to an end!

Cuter Than Stefan and Damon? Meet Lazarus, the Vampire Cat

The Vampire Diaries’ bloodsuckers may be hot, but they have nothing on Lazarus, a so-called “vampire cat.”

The 10-month-old kitty was found by a student at East Tennessee State University. According to the cat’s Facebook page, the little guy has a bilateral cleft palate and cleft nasal area and was taken in by Cynthia Chambers, a special education teacher at the school.

“He’s accommodated quite well,” she told Johnson City Press. “He’s able to kind of throw the food to the back of the mouth and not let it get near the nasal passages, and then if he does get food near those passages, he sneezes.”

Since being found at 10 weeks old, Lazarus has had several surgeries to remove some teeth and treat an infection. Cynthia hopes one day the cat could help children with disabilities, as well.
“I’m a professor in the special education program and so working with individuals with differences is some of the things I do, and building awareness related to disabilities,” she said. “And for Lazarus, he can be a really unique tool for helping children without disabilities understand differences and similarities and how we’re really more alike than different.”

Aw! Maybe Laz could visit Ian Somerhalder’s (Damon Salvatore) animal shelter some day!

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Will Klaus Return After the Originals Pilot?

The Originals — The Vampire Diaries spin-off that’s set to air on The CW April 25 — promises lots of Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). But will we ever seen the siblings back on TVD?


Zap2It has a spoiler that bodes well for Klaus fans. According to the site, the Original hybrid will indeed make his way back to Mystic Falls after visiting New Orleans.

There aren’t many details, but we wonder if he’ll come back to settle things with Caroline (Candice Accola). He and the vampire left things off at “just friends,” but she will come looking for help in Season 4, Episode 19, “PIctures of You.” The following episode is when Klaus leaves for Louisiana, so Klaroline fans will definitely be looking for closure (or a promise of crossovers?).

Because The Originals hasn’t yet been picked up for a full season, we wonder how Season 4 will end things — with the possibility of Klaus’s return or with a permanent goodbye to the hybrid hottie?

We’re definitely rooting for having twice as many vampires on our TV screens each week, but just in case things don’t work out, we’d love for the three siblings to make a home in Mystic Falls.
